What the ratings mean for fit
Unshielded design — no metal shield around the coil. The sensing field radiates forward and to the sides. 5 mm sensing distance is typical for a 12 mm unshielded inductive sensor detecting standard mild steel targets. For non-ferrous metals, derate the range by roughly half. PNP output (sourcing) and normally open operation: the switch closes when a target enters the detection zone. Standard for PLC input cards with sinking inputs—verify polarity before wiring.
