The Omron E2B-M12LS04-WP-C1 2M is a shielded M12 cylindrical proximity switch from the E2B series. It detects ferrous and non-ferrous metal targets at up to 4 mm with an NPN normally open output. The 2-meter PVC cable is pre-wired for a straightforward installation. Shielded construction means the sensor can be flush-mounted in metal without derating the sensing distance; the 4 mm rating is valid for a standard mild steel target. The long body (greater barrel length) provides additional sensing coil volume, which improves stability on marginal targets. The NPN output sinks current to ground when the target is present (normally open). Confirm the PLC input module has a pull-up resistor to the supply rail; if the input is configured for PNP sourcing, a level converter or optoisolator is needed. The M12 brass housing with metric thread permits standard M12 mounting; the PVC cable jacket is rated for general industrial environments, but avoid oil or coolant immersion.
