Field fit and signal integrity
Omron's E2B-M30LN30-WP-C2 5M is an unshielded inductive proximity sensor – 30mm diameter barrel, long-body, NPN normally closed output, with a 30mm sensing distance over a 5-meter PVC pigtail. Unshielded means the sensing field projects ahead without a metal band containment; fine for standoff mounting, but if you're stacking this near another inductive sensor or a ferrous structure, keep the non-detection zone clear or the field will fold. The NC output pulls low when the target enters the range – fails safe on a wire break, which is why you'd spec it for a position interlock or a conveyor stop. 30mm detection at a 30mm housing diameter gives a flush-mount-adjacent ratio; typical for metal-forming or packaging stations where you need reach without a bracket extension.
