The Omron E2B-S08KN04-MC-B1 is an 8 mm cylindrical unshielded inductive proximity sensor rated for 4 mm sensing distance, normally open, PNP output, with an M8 M12-style quick-disconnect connector. Unshielded means it requires a non-flush mounting arrangement — the sensing face must extend beyond any surrounding metal to achieve the full 4 mm range. The short-body barrel and M8 connector save panel depth and allow tool-free sensor swaps in tight spaces.
Compared to the E2C-X1R5AH
A buyer cross-referencing the E2B-S08KN04-MC-B1 against the heat-resistant E2C-X1R5AH will find several deal-breaker differences: the E2C is shielded (flush mountable, 1.5 mm sensing distance), pre-wired with 3 m cable, and rated for ambient temperatures up to 200 °C. If high ambient heat is a requirement, the E2C-X1R5AH remains the only choice; the E2B-S08KN04-MC-B1 does not carry the same temperature rating in the available spec data.
