Sensor profile
The Omron E2B-S08KS02-MC-B2 is a shielded inductive proximity sensor from the E2B series, sized for an 8 mm diameter mounting hole. It is normally closed (NC) with a PNP output, sensing at 2 mm. The short-body barrel and M8 connector suit limited-space panels where a quick-disconnect is preferred over a pre-wired cable. The 2 mm sensing distance is typical for an 8 mm shielded sensor — the stainless steel housing provides mechanical protection for applications like part presence verification on clamps or end-of-stroke detection on small actuators.
Comparison: pre-wired variant
The sibling E2B-S08KS02-WP-B1 5M shares the same 2 mm shielded range and PNP output but differs in two critical ways: it is normally open (NO) and comes with a 5 m pre-wired PVC cable instead of an M8 connector. A panel designed for the MC-B2 will accept the WP-B1 5M mechanically (same 8 mm thread and short body), but the wiring logic must be inverted (NO vs NC), and the connector interface is replaced by a fixed cable.
