M18 vs M12: why output type matters more than thread
The E2BM12LS04WPB22MOMI: If you're cross-shopping the E2AM12KS04M1B14OMS (same M12 body, 4 mm sensing, 1 kHz), the big difference is output: that E2A is normally-open (NO). This E2B gives you break contact (NC). For a safety circuit or a sensor that must signal wire break, the NC output is mandatory — the NO part won't drop into that logic without a rewire or a PLC logic change. Also the E2A carries IP69K and a -40°C low end, so if your washdown or freezer line needs that extra margin, stay with the E2A; otherwise this E2B covers standard industrial environments at IP67.
Mounting and integration notes
Flush-mount design works embedded in metal without derating. The 2 m cable (PNP, NC) connects to terminal blocks or M12 connectors. IP67 and brass housing suit industrial environments.
