What this sensor is
The E2BS08KN04WPB12MOMI: M8 inductive proximity sensor from the E2B series, PNP normally open output. Non-flush mounting means it must be installed with an air gap around the sensing face—no embedding in metal. Switches 200 mA loads at up to 1 kHz, powered from 10 to 30 VDC. Pre-wired cable, no connector to source separately.
Choosing between this and the flush-mount sibling
The closest sibling is the E2BS08KS02MCB120OMS: flush-mount, 2 mm sensing, M8 connector, same output type. This part (E2BS08KN04WPB12MOMI) doubles the sensing range to 4 mm thanks to the non-flush design, but requires clearance around the face. The pre-wired cable on this one vs the sibling's connector means a different strain relief and termination method. If the panel pocket is recessed for a flush sensor, this non-flush part won't fit correctly without modification.
Mounting and wiring notes
Mount with the non-flush face exposed; if installing in metal, maintain an air gap per Omron's guidelines for the M8 size. Stainless steel housing and IP67 rating suit washdown zones. Pre-wired cable carries the three PNP wires (brown, blue, black); verify termination polarity before powering.
