The Omron E2BS08KN04WPC12MOMI is an M8 x 1 non-flush inductive proximity sensor from the E2B series, rated for a 4 mm sensing distance with an NPN normally-open output. It operates on 10–30 VDC, draws 10 mA no-load, and switches loads up to 200 mA at 1 kHz. The stainless-steel housing and IP67 rating mean it survives washdown and coolant spray on a machine tool or conveyor line.
Non-flush mounting and sensing distance
Non-flush mounting means the sensor face needs clearance around it — you can't embed it flush with the mounting surface. The 4 mm sensing distance is the rated range on mild steel; derate for other metals. Repeat accuracy is 10 % of that distance, so expect about 0.4 mm variation cycle-to-cycle. Switching at 1 kHz is fast enough for counting small parts on a pick-and-place or detecting gear teeth.
Output and wiring
NPN normally-open output — the load switches to ground when the target is present. The 2 m cable is attached, so no connector to corrode. Check the polarity on the brown (V+) and blue (V-) wires; the black output wire pulls low. The 200 mA load current covers a small relay or PLC input directly.
