What it is
The Omron E2E-X10MY2-US 2M is an inductive proximity sensor from the E2E series, delivering a 10mm sensing distance with an AC 2-wire normally closed output. Unshielded construction means it detects metal targets without a side shield, but that also leaves it more exposed to noise from nearby conductors or drives. The 2-meter PVC cable terminates in flying leads for direct connection.
Wiring and signal integrity
Since this is an AC 2-wire device, it draws its operating power through the same pair that carries the switching signal. Verify the load impedance stays within the sensor's rated operating range – if the load is too light, the off-state leakage current can keep a PLC input falsely high. With an unshielded sensing face and no built-in self-diagnosis, any intermittent trigger should first point to conducted noise on the cable run. Keep the sensor cable away from VFD output conductors and use twisted-pair if the run exceeds 10 meters.
How it compares to the E2KQ-X10ME1
A buyer cross-shopping the E2KQ-X10ME1 will find a capacitive sensor, not inductive. Different physics: the E2KQ-X10ME1 triggers on dielectric changes, not on metal presence. Electrically, it uses a 3-wire NPN-NO output at 10-30 VDC, whereas the E2E-X10MY2-US 2M runs on AC and switches NC. The mounting hole patterns and cable lengths differ. No direct drop-in – if the original spec was the capacitive unit, rewiring and possibly a different target material are required.
