The Omron E2E-X16MC2L18 5M is an M18 unshielded proximity sensor from the E2E NEXT series, carrying an IP69K rating that means it handles high-pressure hot-water washdown without sealing failure. That makes it a direct suit for food, beverage, and brewery lines where caustic CIP cycles are routine. The output is NPN normally closed; the load current switches off when a carbon-steel target enters the 16 mm sensing field, which is the fail-safe state for loss of target detection. The PVC cable is 5 m long, pre-wired into the sensor body. For a tank cap or conveyor rail that needs the sensor placed at a distance from the I/O cabinet, that reach saves a junction box. The M18 nickel-plated brass barrel threads into standard 18 mm metric mountings; the 50 mm threaded length gives enough grip for vibration-prone applications like bottle-filling turrets. Supply voltage is 10 to 30 VDC. Sensing distance is 16 mm for unshielded mounting.
Integration Notes
In washdown zones, IP69K protects against high-pressure, high-temperature water. The face is PBT polyester; case is nickel-plated brass. Mount cable entry downward. The 5 m PVC cable is oil-resistant, not for continuous flex. The NPN NC output is a sinking configuration; wire the load between +VDC and the output. For inductive loads, use a free-wheeling diode across the coil.
