Product details

The Omron E2E-X18ME2 2M is an inductive proximity switch with an 18 mm sensing distance, normally closed NPN output, and a 2-meter PVC cable. It is a DC 3-wire device (brown, blue, black) designed for direct connection to a sinking PLC input.

18 mm sensing distance. Unshielded design — no metal shield around the face. For reliable operation, keep surrounding metal at least three times the sensing distance away from the barrel. Normally closed output means the NPN transistor is on (pulling low) when no target is present. When a ferrous target enters the detection zone, the output turns off. That's the opposite of the more common NO (normally open) sensors. If your application expects a signal-on-presence, this sensor will need a logic inversion or a different order code. The switching frequency is standard, so it's fine for conveyor counting or valve position sensing but not for high-speed spindle monitoring.
