What it is
The Omron E2E-X18MY1 5M is an unshielded inductive proximity switch with an 18 mm sensing distance, AC 2-wire normally open output, and a 5 m PVC cable.
How it compares to E2KQ-X10ME1
The E2KQ-X10ME1 is a capacitive sensor with a NPN 3-wire DC output and a different sensing range (6–10 mm). Its plastic body and lower voltage supply (10–30 VDC) mean it won't drop into a panel wired for 2-wire AC. Not a plug-and-play alternate.
Field-fit notes
Unshielded mounting gives some leeway in metal surroundings — stick to the 18 mm face-to-target gap. AC 2-wire means two conductors to the controller; no separate power supply wire. The 5 meter cable is PVC, rated for typical industrial environments but not for continuous flex in a cable chain.
