What it is and what it does
The E2E-X20MD1-P1: The E2E-X20MD1-: The OMRON E2E-X20MD1- is an inductive proximity sensor — 20 mm sensing range, unshielded, with a DC 2-wire normally open output. The M12 connector keeps field replacement quick and wiring consistent across the panel. Standard oscillation frequency means it's suited for general industrial metal-target detection at typical cycle rates.
How it compares: E2E-X20MD1-P1 vs E2KQ-X10ME1
The E2KQ-X10ME1 is a capacitive proximity sensor (detects non-metals too) with a 6–10 mm adjustable sensing distance and a 3-wire NPN-NO output. The E2E-X20MD1- is inductive (ferrous targets only), fixed 20 mm gap, and uses a 2-wire DC output. They do not share wiring — 2-wire vs 3-wire — so a panel originally built around the E2KQ cannot simply drop in the E2E without rewiring the sensor and checking the PLC input compatibility.
