Integrator's take on the E2E-X2B1D12-M1
The OMRON E2E-X2B1D12-M1 is a shielded inductive proximity sensor from the E2E NEXT series. In a 12 mm cylindrical brass body with nickel plating, it delivers a flush 2 mm sensing distance and switches up to 200 mA at 10–30 V DC through a PNP normally open output. The M12 connector makes it a quick field-replaceable unit — no cable stripping, no terminal block. Rated IP67 and IP69K, it survives washdown cycles and oil-rich environments common in food and automotive lines.
Connection delta: M12 connector vs prewired cable
The sibling E2E-X2B1D12 2M uses the exact same sensing head and electronics, but terminates in a 2 m pigtail cable instead of an M12 connector. If your panel was wired for the cable variant, the -M1 won't drop in without swapping the connector for a cable gland or adding a field-wireable M12 coupler. No difference in sensing distance (2 mm), output type (PNP NO), load current (200 mA), or environmental rating (IP67/IP69K) — it's a pure connection choice.
Mounting and wiring notes
M12 threaded barrel with included clamping nuts and toothed washer for secure mounting in a 12 mm hole. Shielded construction allows flush mounting in metal. Indicator light on the sensor body gives local output status. Operating temperature from -40°F to 185°F covers most plant areas. Use the M12 connector with a standard cordset; pigtail option exists if you need the cable version.
