Swapping in the E2C-X1R5AH? – Not a Direct Fit
A buyer might consider the E2C-X1R5AH as a second-source candidate. However, the two parts are functionally different: the E2C has a pre-wired cable (3 m) versus the E2E's M12 connector; it provides 1.5 mm sensing range versus the 2 mm here; and its body is built for high-temp environments (rated up to 200°C). The E2E-X2B1T8-M1 is shielded, but the E2C is also shielded. The connection style alone prevents a drop-in replacement without re-terminating the panel wiring. If panel space and temperature allow, the E2E is the active-production part with IO-Link capability the E2C lacks.
Mounting & Wiring Considerations
Shielded construction allows flush mounting without derating the 2 mm sensing range. The M12 connector mates to standard pigtails; three-wire PNP wiring supports IO‑Link at 230.4 kbps.
