The Omron E2E-X2MB28-M1 is an M8 unshielded inductive proximity sensor from the E2E NEXT series. Its 2 mm sensing range, PNP normally closed output, and M12 connector define the fit for a 3-wire DC control loop. Unshielded construction means the sensor is not designed for flush mounting; install it with free space around the sensing face to achieve the rated 2 mm range on ferrous targets. The normally closed (NC) logic provides fail-safe behaviour: the output opens on target absence or power loss, matching schemes that require a dropped signal on fault.
Comparison with Common Peers
Neither E2KQ-X10ME1 nor E2C-X1R5AH is a direct fit replacement for E2E-X2MB28-M1. The E2KQ-X10ME1 is a capacitive sensor with NPN-NO output, different sensing principle, and a 10–30 V supply range. The E2C-X1R5AH is a shielded heat-resistant head requiring a separate amplifier unit; it operates on a different wiring architecture and is not a standalone 3-wire device. A panel originally specified with either peer would require rewiring or a change in sensing technology to accept this part.
