What it is and what it does
The Omron E2E-X3D1-R 2M is a shielded inductive proximity switch with a 3 mm sensing distance, DC 2-wire output, normally open operation, and a 2 m bend-resistant cable. It senses ferrous metal targets up to 3 mm away and switches via a two-wire DC circuit—simple to wire but requires correct polarity due to the polarized DC input.
Mounting and wiring notes
Shielded construction allows flush mounting in metal without derating the sensing distance. The 2-wire DC output uses the same two conductors for power and switching; confirm polarity of the supply before connecting. Bend-resistant cable handles repeated flexing, making it suitable for cable-chain routing or moving machine parts. Standard body length fits typical M18 barrel mountings common in industrial sensors.
