The E2E-X3D18 2M is a compact M8 shielded inductive proximity sensor from Omron's E2E NEXT series. It detects ferrous targets at a 3 mm sensing distance using a 2-wire DC supply (10–30 VDC) and outputs a Normally Open switching signal through a 2 m PVC cable. Rated IP67, IP67G, and IP69K, it handles dust, oil, and high-pressure washdown environments.
What the ratings mean
The three IP ratings cover a wide range of installation environments: IP67 for temporary immersion and dust, IP67G for oil-resistant seals, and IP69K for high-temperature, high-pressure spray cleaning. In washdown zones (food processing, car washes), the IP69K rating alone often makes the difference between a sensor that survives and one that fails seasonally. The 3 mm sensing range is labelled as a 3x factor, meaning it provides three times the standard M8 shielded sensing distance. That extra standoff gives more mechanical tolerance in fixture designs and protects the sensor face from accidental impact. Being a 2-wire DC NO sensor, it drops a small voltage across its output when off; ensure the connected PLC input or relay can tolerate the off-state leakage current typical of two-wire sensors at 10–30 VDC. The nickel-plated brass body and PBT sensing face are standard for industrial environments where moderate corrosion resistance and mechanical durability are required.
