What it is and what the ratings mean
The Omron E2E-X3D2-N 2M is a shielded inductive proximity sensor with a 3 mm sensing range, normally closed output, and DC 2-wire connection. The shielded construction allows flush mounting in metal without false triggers — the field is focused out the face, not the sides. The NC output means the switch opens when a target is present; useful for fail-safe monitoring or detecting absence. The 2-wire DC loop simplifies wiring but watch the voltage drop across the load — it needs enough compliance to keep the sensor biased. PVC cable is standard for indoor industrial environments; 2 meters gives reach to a junction box without splicing.
