What the ratings mean
Shielded: the sensing field projects from the front face only, allowing flush mounting in metal without detecting side objects. Typical for M12, 4 mm is the standard sensing distance for a shielded version – sufficient for detecting small ferrous targets at close range. PNP normally open: the output switches high when a target enters the 4 mm zone.
