50 mm unshielded range in an M30 barrel
The E2E-X50MC2L30 2M: Its unshielded design delivers a 50 mm sensing distance on mild steel — the longest reach available in this form factor within the E2E NEXT family, so it catches targets earlier in the approach path and relaxes mounting standoffs compared to a shielded 30 mm sensor. The NPN-NC output (normally-closed, sinking) means the load is energized when the target is absent — a fail-safe wiring convention common in safety interlocks where a broken wire or sensor failure opens the circuit and drops the load. The 3-wire configuration requires a DC supply between 10 V and 30 V.
Washdown-rated and temperature-tolerant
Rated IP67 and IP69K, the sensor body and cable entry withstand high-pressure, high-temperature washdown — a requirement for food-and-beverage, pharmaceutical, and outdoor conveyor lines where the sensor sees caustic cleaning agents or steam. The operating range of -25°C to 70°C covers freezer environments and sun-exposed outdoor mounts without derating. The 2-meter cable leads terminate directly into the sensor; no separate connector body to seal. For panel integration, the M30 threaded barrel passes through a 30 mm knockout and locks with the supplied nuts — the sealing washer sits between the barrel shoulder and the mounting surface, not the thread.
Response frequency and target-speed trade-off
At 100 Hz switching frequency, the sensor can detect a target passing at up to about 10 m/s (assuming a target width equal to the sensing range). That is adequate for most conveyor and part-present detection, but below the 500 Hz+ of shorter-range M18 inductives — the 50 mm range trades switching speed for detection reach. If the line runs fast small parts, verify the target dwell time exceeds the sensor's minimum on/off period of 5 ms.
