What it is and what it does
E2E-X5B1T18-M1 is a shielded M18 proximity sensor from Omron's E2E NEXT series. It detects ferrous targets up to 5 mm away, outputs a PNP normally-open signal, and connects via a standard M12 connector. The IO-Link interface runs at 230.4 kbps, letting you pull diagnostics and adjust parameters from the controller.
How it compares to the older M1
The closest sibling is the E2E2-X5B1-M1. Both are M18 shielded, 5 mm sensing, PNP NO, with M12 connectors. The key difference: the E2E-X5B1T18-M1 includes IO-Link (230.4 kbps); the M1 does not. If your application doesn't need IO-Link, the M1 is a functional drop-in for the barrel and wiring. If you rely on IO-Link for parameter setting or diagnostics, stick with this E2E NEXT variant.
Installation notes
Standard M18 threaded barrel – fits existing M18 mounting holes and brackets. Shielded construction allows flush mounting in metal. Wiring is DC 3-wire PNP; the M12 connector mates with standard A-coded cordsets.
