5 mm shielded sensing in an M18 barrel
The Omron E2E-X5F1 2M is a shielded inductive proximity sensor with a 5 mm sensing distance on mild steel. Shielded construction means it can be flush-mounted in metal without derating the sensing range — useful when the sensor needs to sit level with the mounting surface on a machine frame or conveyor rail. Output is DC 3-wire PNP normally open, so the load switches when the target enters the detection zone. The 2-meter PVC cable is pre-attached, saving a separate connector and cordset in fixed installations.
The 5 mm rated sensing distance is the maximum guaranteed detection range on a standard mild steel target. The shielded body lets you embed the sensor in a steel bracket or machine frame without losing detection range. Standard oscillation frequency means the sensor switches at a rate suitable for general-purpose position detection on conveyors, part-present sensors, and cylinder position feedback.
