What it is and what the ratings mean
The E2E-X5F1-P1: The E2E-X5F1-: A shielded, DC 3-wire proximity sensor from Omron's E2E series with a 5 mm sensing distance and PNP normally open output. Shielded construction allows flush mounting in metal — no derating of the sensing range, so the sensor face can be level with the mounting surface. PNP output sources a positive signal when the target is present, matching the majority of PLC input modules without extra components. Connection is via a plastic M12 connector, a standard industrial interface that simplifies panel wiring and sensor replacement.
Panel and wiring notes
Mount the shielded barrel in a tapped hole flush with the sensing face; the 5 mm range is measured from that face to a standard iron target. The M12 connector is keyed, preventing polarity reversal — match the mating-cable encoder orientation.
