The 5 mm ±10% sensing distance is the maximum range to a standard ferrous target; the usable setting distance is 0 to 4 mm, so plan for a 1 mm installation tolerance. Unshielded construction means the sensing field extends beyond the barrel — you can flush-mount it in metal but must account for side interference from adjacent steel. The 0.4 kHz response frequency handles fast-moving parts on a pick-and-place or indexing conveyor. NPN output with 200 mA switching capacity drives most PLC inputs and small relays directly; residual voltage stays under 2 V at full load.
