What it is and what it fits
The Omron E2E-X5Y1-US 5M is a shielded inductive proximity switch from the E2E series, built with a 5-meter PVC cable and rated for AC 2-wire operation. It senses ferrous targets at 5 mm and switches normally open. The shielded barrel lets you flush-mount it in metal without derating the sensing range – handy when you're swapping into a tapped hole on a machine frame.
Build and wiring specifics
UL-certified, PVC-jacketed cable at 5 meters. No self-diagnosis output – it's a straight two-wire AC sensor. The switching output is normally open, so it closes when the target is present. Standard oscillation frequency means it's fine for general-purpose speed sensing, not for counting above a few hundred Hz.
