The Omron E2E-X5Y2-US 5M is an M18, shielded, 2-wire AC proximity sensor with a 5 mm sensing range and normally closed (NC) output. It runs on 24 to 240 VAC and is terminated with a 5 m PVC cable. The housing is nickel-plated brass.
Mounts either into an M18x1 threaded hole or through a bracket with an 18 mm pass-through hole. The shielded construction allows flush mounting in metal, so you can sink it into a bracket face without loss of range. The 5 m PVC cable gives reach to the control cabinet, but the shield means the sensing face must be at the very tip – no extended non-metallic nose. Two-wire AC simplifies wiring – only two connections, series load like a relay or PLC input. But watch the off-state leakage current (check the load spec for your controller input) and the voltage drop across the sensor when ON; it must be low enough to not starve the load.
