The Omron E2E-X6MC28-R 5M is an inductive proximity sensor from the E2E NEXT series, housed in an M8 threaded stainless steel cylinder. It detects ferrous and non-ferrous metals at up to 6 mm with an unshielded face — that unshielded design gives a longer sensing range than a shielded counterpart of the same diameter, but you'll need to leave some clearance from surrounding metal structure to avoid false triggers. Output is NPN normally-closed (NC), 3-wire, sinking current when the target is absent.
