The shielded body lets you flush-mount without worrying about metal in the sensing field – no air gap needed. That 7mm distance is plenty for medium targets on conveyor rollers or motor fan covers. DC 2-wire keeps wiring simple: power and load in series, no third wire for control. The self-diagnosis flags an open or shorted line, which saves walking the whole route to find the fault.
