Mounting and wiring
The E2E-X8MD1-M1: Unshielded body means the sensing field radiates forward and around the head; mount in non-ferrous surroundings or leave a gap to avoid early detection when using steel brackets. 2-wire DC simplifies connections – two conductors carry both power and switching – but watch the minimum load current of the PLC input card because 2-wire sensors draw a small standby current (off-state leakage) that can keep a high-impedance input falsely high. M12 connector mates with standard pre-wired cordsets; no extra termination block needed. Normally open output means the sensor closes its output when metal enters the detection zone.
