Integration Note – Signal Chain & Mounting
The Omron E2E-X8MD1-US 2M is a DC 2-wire normally open inductive proximity switch from the E2E family, unshielded, with an 8 mm sensing distance on a standard steel target. The 2-meter PVC cable terminates bare leads — plan for a clean gland entry. Unshielded means the field radiates from the face and sides; mount it with a metal-free zone around the head to avoid false triggers. DC 2-wire output sinks current when active; polarize the load correctly (most inputs tolerate a few mA off-state leakage, but confirm the PLC card's threshold).
Cross-Check with E2KQ-X10ME1
The E2KQ-X10ME1 is a capacitive sensor with a 3-wire NPN-NO output, 10–30 V supply, and a plastic body. This E2E unit is inductive, DC 2-wire (no separate supply), and metal-housed. Wiring differs: the 2-wire switches in series with the load; the 3-wire needs V+ and V- plus a signal line. They are not drop-in interchangeable without rewiring the input circuit.
