The Omron E2E-X8MD2 2M is an inductive proximity switch from the E2E/E2E NEXT series, rated for 8 mm sensing distance with an unshielded DC 2-wire normally closed output. The 2 m PVC cable terminates the sensor ready for panel wiring.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 8 mm sensing range is the maximum rated distance for a standard steel target; derating applies for other metals. Unshielded construction allows flush mounting in a metal panel, but the rated range assumes a non-ferrous mounting surface gap. DC 2-wire means the sensor uses two wires for both power and load — typically a sinking output (NPN) — and the normally closed output is energized with no target present.
