Compare to the E2E2-X5B1-M1 (PNP 3-wire, M12 connector, 5 mm range) — that sibling requires a different wiring scheme and won't drop into a circuit designed for 2-wire. If your BOM specifies this exact output type, don't swap in a 3-wire PNP version without tracing the load path. The shielded body and cable length match this unit only; the M12 variant has a different connector.
