18 mm sensing, NC PNP, 2 m cable
The Omron E2E2-X18MB2 2M is an inductive proximity sensor with an 18 mm sensing distance, normally closed output, and PNP open collector wiring. It is unshielded, which means the sensing field extends beyond the barrel face without a metal shield ring — useful when you need a longer detection range in a given barrel size, but the sensor must be mounted away from metal sidewalls to avoid false triggers. The 2 meter cable is factory-molded, so the sensor arrives ready to wire into a junction box or PLC input card without adding a connector.
Panel wiring and PLC integration
The PNP output sources 24 VDC to the PLC input when the target is absent (NC logic) — the sensor switches off when metal enters the 18 mm detection zone. This is a standard 3-wire DC sensor: brown to +24 VDC, blue to 0 VDC, black to the PLC input. The NC configuration means the input sees a high signal at rest, which is typical for fail-safe circuits where a broken wire or sensor failure drops the signal and triggers an alarm. The 18 mm sensing distance covers most part-present and position-detection applications on conveyors, packaging lines, and machine tools — it catches the target before it reaches the hazard zone.
