The Omron E2E2-X2C2 2M is a shielded inductive proximity sensor that switches a 2 mm ferrous target. It's wired DC 3-wire NPN, normally closed — meaning the output transistor conducts when no target is present and switches off when a target enters the sensing face. The 2 m integral cable makes it a ready-to-mount unit for tight spaces where a separate connector could add a failure point.
Active production – no last-time-buy horizon
Omron currently manufactures the E2E2-X2C2 2M. No phase-out notice or last-time-buy date has been issued. You can commit to this sensing point without a substitute search.
Not a drop-in for the E2C-X1R5AH
The E2C-X1R5AH is a heat-resistant sensor head (rated to 200 °C) that requires a separate amplifier unit — it's not a self-contained proximity switch. The E2E2-X2C2 2M integrates the oscillator and output stage in one barrel, operates in standard industrial temperatures, and uses a different mounting thread family. If your panel was laid out for the E2C head plus amplifier, this Omron will not fit the same bracket nor match the output wiring without a complete redesign.
