The Omron E2EC04S12WCB22MOMS is a 4 mm diameter inductive proximity sensor with a 1.2 mm flush-mount sensing range. That 1.2 mm detection window means it spots a metal target passing within a hair's breadth — typical for confirming cam position, detecting a small actuator stroke, or counting parts on a high-speed pick-and-place. The 4 kHz switching frequency keeps up with fast-moving lines; at that rate it can catch targets at over 240,000 parts per hour without missing a beat. Output is PNP normally closed (break contact), so the sensor holds its output high when a target is absent and drops it when metal enters the detection zone. That NC logic is common in safety-monitored circuits where a broken wire or sensor failure forces the output low — a fail-safe arrangement.
