The Omron E2EL-C1R5F1 2M is a shielded inductive proximity sensor with a 1.5 mm sensing distance and a PNP normally open output, terminated with a 2-meter cable. The shielded construction allows flush mounting in metal without derating the sensing range, which is useful when space is tight or the sensor must sit inside a machined pocket.
The 1.5 mm sensing distance is the rated detection gap to a standard iron target (typically 8x8x1 mm). Because the sensor is shielded, you can mount it flush in a steel or aluminum block — the metal housing of the sensor itself acts as part of the field-absorbing material. The PNP output pulls the load to positive when a target is present; confirm that your PLC or relay input is sinking (NPN) or sourcing (PNP) to match. The 2-meter cable is a fixed part of the sensor — not a connector variant. If your application needs a longer run, plan for a junction box or splice; the cable is oil-resistant but check the data sheet for flex life if it runs through cable chain.
