5 mm shielded sensing in a threaded barrel
The Omron E2EL-X5F2-M1L is a shielded inductive proximity sensor with a 5 mm sensing distance on mild steel — the shielding concentrates the field forward so it can be flush-mounted in a metal panel without false triggers from the surrounding material. Output is PNP normally closed (NC), meaning the signal line sinks to ground when a target is absent and switches high when the target enters the 5 mm detection zone — a common fail-safe wiring choice for machine guarding interlocks where a broken wire mimics a detected condition. The M12 4-pin connector mates directly to standard field-wired cordsets, saving panel space compared to a pigtail cable gland entry.
Threaded long barrel format — the extra barrel length provides more thread engagement in thick mounting brackets or through-hole panels, reducing the risk of the sensor loosening under machine vibration.
