The Omron E2EM-X8X2 2M is an M18 shielded inductive proximity sensor with an 8 mm sensing distance, 2-wire DC normally-open output, and a 2-meter PVC cable. Part of the E2EM series, it offers extended sensing range in a short barrel form factor — nickel-plated brass case, threaded M18×1 mounting, and bracket option.
8 mm sensing distance for an M18 shielded sensor. 2-wire DC output simplifies wiring but introduces a voltage drop across the sensor: minimum load current and leakage current must be checked against the PLC input or relay coil. Most 24 VDC digital inputs handle this, but verify against the load's off-state impedance. Supply range is 12 to 24 VDC.
The E2E-X1R5B1D8-M1 (M8, PNP, 3-wire) and E2E-X10C130-M1 / E2E-X10B1D30 2M (M30, 3-wire) are from E2E NEXT — a different wiring architecture. The E2EM uses 2-wire DC; the E2E NEXT are 3-wire PNP or NPN. No direct electrical swap: the 2-wire to 3-wire conversion requires rewiring the load, and sensing distances differ (2 mm, 10 mm vs 8 mm). The E2EM-X8X2 2M is its own distinct drop-in for existing 2-wire M18 installations.
