Sensor fit and switching behaviour
The Omron E2ES05S12MCB2OMS is an M5 cylindrical inductive sensor from the E2E series, designed for flush mounting in metal. Its 1.2 mm sensing distance means it detects ferrous targets only at very close range — suitable for end-of-stroke or presence detection in compact assemblies where the target passes within that gap. The PNP break contact (NC) output switches off when the target is present; for audit purposes, confirm that the load side expects a normally-closed signal that opens on detection. Switching frequency is rated at 4 kHz, which supports fast-moving targets such as those on a small indexing dial or high-speed pick-and-place gripper. The 10 mA current consumption and 100 mA load current capacity are typical for this form factor — the load current is the maximum continuous current the sensor can switch, not the sensor's own draw.
Mounting and environmental constraints
The M5 threaded barrel (5 mm diameter) and 40.1 mm body length fit into tight mounting holes common in small end-effectors or fixture blocks. Flush-mount capability means the sensing face can be level with the surrounding metal surface without derating the sensing distance — per the specification, no non-flush gap is required. The stainless steel housing withstands washdown and corrosive environments, backed by the IP67 rating. Termination is via a 3-pin M8 connector. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C. Supply range is 10–30 VDC.
Comparison with E2BS08KS02MCB120OMS
The E2BS08KS02MCB120OMS has a 2 mm sensing distance, a PNP make contact (NO) output, and a 13 mm body. The E2ES05S12MCB2OMS is M5 with 1.2 mm and NC output.
