12 mm flush-mount — the gap that decides fit
The E2EX12B1T18M1OMS: 12 mm sensing distance on mild steel, flush mount in an M18 barrel. That means the sensor face can be level with the mounting surface — no standoff required — and still catch a steel target at 12 mm. The correction factor for stainless steel drops the usable range to about 8–9 mm; budget that if your target is 304 or 316. PNP normally-open output, rated 100 mA continuous load — standard for driving a 24 VDC PLC input module directly. The 16 mA quiescent consumption is negligible on a 24 V supply rail. 500 Hz switching frequency means the output pulse width is roughly 1 ms minimum. The downstream PLC input filter must be set below 500 Hz or edges will be missed. Fine for conveyor counting, cylinder position, and rotary indexing; too slow for high-speed cam or encoder replacement.
IP67 brass housing — washdown and machine-tool ready
Brass nickel-plated barrel, rated IP67 when the M12 connector is mated with the sealing washer seated. This sensor handles coolant spray, washdown, and dusty environments in machining centres, packaging lines, and conveyor transfer stations. The brass body is tougher than stainless for impact resistance on a robot end-effector or fixture clamp. Operating range -25 °C to 70 °C — covers most indoor industrial floors but not foundry or freezer applications. Outside that band you need a high-temp or low-temp variant from the E2E family.
Lifecycle and sourcing — active line, no obsolescence worry
The M12 connector termination means the sensor ships without a pigtail — you supply the mating cordset. Confirm the cordset pinout matches the PNP NO wiring (pin 4 = black output, pin 3 = blue 0 V, pin 1 = brown +24 V).
