15 mm flush-mount sensing in a washdown environment
The E2EX15B2302MOMS is an M30 inductive proximity sensor from Omron's E2E-Next series, delivering a 15 mm sensing distance from a flush-mount barrel. Flush mounting means the sensor face is level with the mounting surface — no dead zone around the head, so it fits into tight machine frames where a non-flush sensor would need standoff. The brass nickel-plated housing carries IP67, IP67G, and IP69K ratings — the IP69K rating means it withstands 80 °C high-pressure washdown at 100 bar, making it suitable for food-and-beverage or pharmaceutical lines where caustic cleaning cycles are routine. The 2 m cable termination eliminates a connector joint that could trap moisture.
PNP NC output and switching frequency limits
Output is PNP normally-closed (NC) — the load is switched on when the target is absent, off when detected. This matters for safety circuits: a broken wire or sensor failure opens the output, mimicking a detected condition, so the downstream logic sees a fault. The 200 mA load current drives most PLC inputs or small relays directly. Switching frequency is 250 Hz, which limits the detectable target speed. At 250 Hz, a 30 mm target passing the sensor at 7.5 m/s produces one pulse — faster targets or smaller gaps will be missed. For high-speed counting or cam detection, a sensor with 1 kHz+ switching frequency is needed.
Temperature range and supply voltage envelope
Operating temperature spans -40 °C to 85 °C, covering freezer environments and hot washdown zones without derating. Supply voltage is 10–30 VDC, compatible with standard 24 VDC industrial control systems; the 16 mA current consumption per sensor adds up fast on a multi-sensor bank — budget 0.5 A for a rack of 30 units.
