M8 shielded proximity sensor built for washdown zones
The Omron E2EX1R5B1D82M is an M8 threaded shielded inductive sensor from the E2E NEXT series. It delivers a 2 mm sensing distance with a PNP normally-open output, wired to a 2-meter prewired cable. Powered by 10–30 V DC, it sinks up to 200 mA. The 303 stainless steel body carries IP67, IP67G, and IP69K ratings, so it holds up to high-pressure washdown, oils, and cutting fluids. Current production, no lifecycle uncertainty.
What the ratings mean for your install
2 mm shielded sensing range allows flush mounting in metal; IP69K seals against washdown, and 303 stainless body resists corrosion. Temperature range is –40 °F to 185 °F. The PNP output is sourcing, so it supplies a positive voltage to the PLC input when the target is present. Max load is 200 mA per the datasheet, which is typical for direct-to-input connections. No extra relay needed for most PLC digital inputs.
Cable vs. connector – a real choice
The E2E-X1R5B1D8-M1 uses an M12 quick-disconnect on the same sensor core – same 2 mm shielded sensing, same PNP NO output, same IP69K rating. The difference is termination: this E2EX1R5B1D82M comes with a 2-meter bare-wire cable, so you hardwire it directly into terminal blocks or a junction box. If your panel is already wired for M12 connectors and you need a drop-in, the M12 variant avoids splicing. If you prefer a continuous cable run for a vibration-heavy environment, the prewired version eliminates a connector failure point. Sensing performance is identical. If you need NPN output, the E2E-X1R5C18-M1 offers the same stainless body and IP69K but with an M12 connector and NPN logic – different wiring convention entirely.
