Omron E2EX2Y22MOMS is a M12 flush-mount inductive proximity sensor from the E2E-X series. It detects ferrous targets at 2 mm, switches 200 mA loads at up to 264 VAC/VDC, and outputs a normally-closed (NC) signal. Rated IP67 with a 2 m PVC cable, it suits machine-tool feedback, conveyor presence, and hydraulic valve position in tight metal surroundings.
NC vs NO: choosing the right output logic
Compared to the near-identical sibling E2EX2Y12MOMS (NO output), this NC variant offers fail-safe under cable break: the output goes open when the sensor loses power or the cable is severed. The trade-off is a tighter temperature range (-25 to 70 °C versus -40 to 85 °C on the NO sibling). For panel layouts already wired for NC, this part drops in without rewiring the PLC input card; the terminal assignment is identical.
Panel fit and installation
Mounts in a 12 mm bored hole with the brass barrel; the 21 mm hex body takes a standard 21 mm wrench. The 2 m cable exits axially, so gland or connector planning needs clearance behind the sensor. Flush-mount permits embedment in steel without derating the 2 mm sensing distance — no extra standoff required.
