The Omron E2EX4B3D12M1OMS is an M12 inductive proximity sensor from the E2E-X series, rated for 4 mm flush-mount sensing. It gives you both normally-open and normally-closed outputs in one body, switching at 1 kHz with a load current up to 100 mA. The housing is nickel-plated brass, sealed to IP67, IP67G (oil-resistant gasket), and IP69K — meaning it handles high-pressure washdown cycles common in food-and-bev or washdown zones without the sensor body or optics degrading.
What the ratings mean for fit
The 4 mm flush-mount sensing distance means the sensor face can be embedded in metal without a dead zone — it detects ferrous targets at that range reliably. Flush mounting also protects the sensor from mechanical impact in tight spaces. The 1 kHz switching frequency is fast enough for counting or position detection on moderate-speed lines; if you need higher throughput, the E2B peer (1.5 kHz) is one option, but this part already covers most conveyor and cylinder-position applications. IP67/IP67G/IP69K is the full washdown package — IP69K means 100 bar at 80 °C water jets, so it survives the harshest cleaning cycles in dairies or beverage lines. The nickel-plated brass housing resists corrosion from caustic washdown chemicals better than standard stainless in some environments. Dual output (NC and NO) gives you flexibility in safety or control circuits without carrying two sensor variants. The 10–30 VDC supply range is standard for industrial 24 VDC systems, drawing 20 mA quiescent. Operating temperature range of -25 to 70 °C covers most indoor factory and outdoor cabinet conditions.
