What the part is
The Omron E2EX4MB28M5OMS is an inductive proximity sensor in the E2E-Next series, built in the M8 smooth-barrel format with a stainless housing and terminated via an M8 3-pin connector. The output stage is PNP, normally closed, switching at up to 1 kHz from a 4 mm non-flush sensing head. Sealing is rated IP67 and IP69K, so the housing survives both immersion and high-temperature, high-pressure washdown — the standard envelope for food-and-beverage skid builders and outdoor machinery.
Ratings that drive the fit
Supply range is 10 V to 30 V, with 16 mA current consumption and a 200 mA load-current rating on the PNP output. The head is specified to operate from −40 °C to 85 °C, which puts it on the table for unheated cabinets, cold-storage lines, and engine-side panels without thermal guarding. Sensing distance is 4 mm on a non-flush mount; the 1 kHz switching ceiling is comfortable for parts-presence and end-of-stroke duty on small indexing conveyors, and the PNP-NC contact logic slots straight into a sinking-input PLC card wired for normally-closed sourcing sensors.
Body length vs the E2E-Next siblings
Length is 39 mm; the E2EX4MB2L8M5OMS and E2EX4MB1TL8M5OMS peers in the same series are 49 mm. Both long-body peers share the 4 mm non-flush head, 200 mA load, M8 3-pin termination, so the panel-side delta is 10 mm of barrel behind the mounting nut.
Install notes
Non-flush mounting means the 4 mm rated sensing distance is achieved without an integrated metal-free zone around the head, so a standard M8 through-hole or bracket is all that is required. The M8 3-pin connector is the same pattern as the rest of the E2E-Next M8 family — match the cable assembly to the panel-side connector and the sensor side drops on without re-pinning.
