The Omron E2EX4MB2L8M5OMS is a current-production M8 inductive proximity sensor from the E2E-Next series. It delivers a 4 mm non-flush sensing range with a PNP normally-closed output, rated IP67 and IP69K for washdown environments. Supply voltage range is 10–30 Vdc, with 16 mA current consumption and a 200 mA output load capacity. Switching frequency hits 1 kHz, making it a fit for fast cycle applications. The M8 3-pin connector simplifies field replacement without rewiring the sensor head. Stainless steel housing rated IP67 and IP69K for washdown environments.
Compared to the E2EX4MB28M5OMS
The E2EX4MB28M5OMS is the nearest sibling: same PNP NC output, same sensing distance, same connector and voltage range. The difference is barrel length—our 49 mm vs the 28M5OMS's 39 mm. That 10 mm matters in tight panel or manifold mounting where every millimetre counts. Electrically they are identical swaps, but you have to check the space in the bore or the bracket clearance. For a normally-open logic requirement, look at the E2EX4MB1TL8M5OMS (49 mm, same connector) or the E2EX4MB1T8M3OMS (39 mm, 4-pin). Both use PNP NO output, so they don't match a NC slot without a logic inversion at the PLC input.
Sourcing and compliance
Compliance documents (RoHS, REACH, CE) are available on request from the factory documentation set. The stainless steel housing and sealed connector meet the material and ingress requirements for food processing, but always confirm local machine directives for your specific application.
Mounting and wiring notes
Non-flush mounting; 4 mm sensing distance for mild steel. Wire the M8 3-pin connector per the standard M12 pinout: brown = Vcc (10–30 Vdc), blue = GND, black = normally-closed output. The load switches low-side through the PNP transistor; pull-up or PLC sourcing input required. Cable length to the controller should stay under 200 m to avoid voltage drop on the output. For IP69K integrity, use a mating connector with IP69K rating and a clean, dry o-ring seal before each washdown cycle.
