Washdown-rated proximity sensing for hygienic lines
The Omron E2EX5B1T182MOMS is an M18 inductive proximity sensor from the E2E-Next series, built for environments where hot caustic CIP and high-pressure washdown are routine. Its IP67, IP67G, and IP69K ratings mean the sensor body and optics survive the same washdown cycles as the rest of the hygienic line — no boot or shield needed. The flush-mount M18 barrel installs flush with the tank or pipe wall, leaving no crevice for biofilm. Brass nickel-plated housing handles the chemical exposure without pitting. Sensing distance is 5 mm, which catches metal targets through a thin non-metallic window or directly on the process side. PNP normally-open output at 200 mA load current, switching at 600 Hz — fast enough for counting bottles or cans on a high-speed fill line. Operating range from 10 to 30 VDC, with current consumption of 16 mA. The 2 m cable termination means one less connector to leak or corrode in wet zones.
Mounting and wiring note
Flush mount in an M18 threaded hole. The 55.3 mm barrel length fits standard M18 sensor holders; the 2 m cable exits the rear, so plan for cable routing in the gland plate. PNP NO output: load between output and 0 V, sensor switches high when target is present. No pull-up resistor needed. The 200 mA load current covers most PLC inputs and small relays directly.
