What this sensor is and what it delivers
The Omron E2F-X1R5E1 is a shielded M8 inductive proximity sensor with a 2 mm flush-mount sensing range. It outputs a normally open NPN signal on a 2 m prewired cable. The polyarylate resin body carries an IP68 rating and meets NEMA enclosure types 1, 3, 4, 6, 12, and 13 for indoor and wet-location use.
Supply 10-30 VDC, load current 200 mA maximum. The shielded face requires a flush mount; the 2 mm target range stays consistent with a standard steel target. The 8 mm diameter (M8 threads) fits common mounting brackets and gland plates. Three wires – brown (V+), blue (0V), black (NPN NO output). The indicator light confirms target detection on the cylinder body. The bare-wire electrical connection suits field wiring or a M8 pigtail adapter. Operating range -13 °F to 158 °F.

E2F-X1R5E2 shares the same M8 shielded body, 2 mm range, 2 m cable, and IP68 rating but outputs normally closed (NC). If your PLC input expects NO, this is the correct fit; the is a drop-in only if you rewire the logic or invert in software. The PNP sibling E2F-X1R5F1 reverses the output polarity and carries a NEMA 4X rating; choose it if your controller sinks current.
