The Omron E2F-X2E1 is a current-production M12 shielded inductive proximity sensor with a 2 mm sensing range, NPN normally open output, and IP68 water resistance — a direct drop-in for lines using the E2F series M12 form factor.
What the specs mean for fit
Runs on 10-30 VDC and sinks up to 200 mA through the NPN output. The shielded sensing face lets you mount it flush in steel without derating the 2 mm range, which simplifies panel layout when space is tight. The 2-meter prewired cable with bare ends lands directly in a terminal block — no connector to swap, no extra parts on the van.
How it compares to E2F-X2E2
If your BOM calls for E2F-X2E2, the only difference is the output logic: X2E2 is normally closed. Same body, same cable, same IP68, same 2 mm range. Swapping between them means rewriting the load logic — the mechanical fit is identical, but the electrical behavior flips. For a line-down fix, you can substitute X2E1 if your control logic expects NO and you adjust the wiring; otherwise order the NC variant.
Sourcing for your line
Quoted to order against an RFQ. For a BOM freeze, confirm the output logic (NO) and form factor (M12 shielded, 2 mm) against your specification. This is a stocked line; lead times are typical for the E2F series.
